An apology

Sorry for sundays' bieber if it did upset anyone I'm sorry. :)

Going to compensate with some Bowie. A great track you just start to dance to. I for one have that urge. Before that here's an update as I said a couple posts ago that I would go to Dungen. It was yesterday and absolutely fantastic. It's also good to know that there are alot of hippies in Stockholm. There you have it, and here you have some David Bowie:

Saw the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie yesterday. Got kind of what I expected: A decent movie, no more. I have one question if anyone could answer, spoiler alert:

Anyway I spent half an hour looking for a way to put spoiler tags. Heh, pretty unnecessary...

So here's a great song!!!!!!!1

Math win

I'm pretty happy. Got back the national exam in math. I almost aced the whole test, missed 2 semi-big points and 2 big. That's an awesome percentage and will I boast about it. :) The best part is that I didn't study at all. A new way of life! Got back a PE test (yes, test) which I almost didn't pass. Didn't study on that either :). Well it shouldn't matter. I'm still happy, celebrating with math rock. Here's battles:

(let me insert something in your mind while listening to the speeded lyrics, "Evil woman, evil woman eat a sandwich." You can't unhear it :D)
I think it was something else I should say. No whatever.

More music from up north!

Swedish psychadelic rockband Dungen (the Grove) is super-awesome! I've wanted to listen to them for a long time and gave them a try today. As you can see I was astonished.
The band with it's 60's hippie music mixed with Swedish folk and progg (a political music movement with some great swedish bands fronting.) makes a great vibe. And what's best is that I'm going to see them on monday. Oh yes, yes, yes! Here's their song Panda.

Guess who's ill?

I'm not, hopefully. But Dexter is criminally insane, that boy needs therapy.

The Avalanches is an aussie turntable/mixing group. Their music is almost fully from different samplings, which they've mixed into awesome danceable tracks. I discovered them recently, their album since I left you  is great. Take this song, Frontier Psychiatrist. Almost everything is sampled from old tv shows and movies. After a few listens you're guaranteed to know every word, they are... Memorable.

 (again a great video)

Familjen

No big update here. Going to a concert tonight, to the Swedish electronica artist Familjen (Family). I think he's pretty good in studio and I'm not even that into that kind of music. I have seen him live once before and I had a pretty negative experience. But whatever, I have an entry card to the tivoli where he's playing for the whole season and I gotta make the best out of it. Hope it's better this time. :)

 (btw the video is great)

Mirror mirror

I heard this album yesterday, it's by Belgian band Ghinzu. They sound like a mix between the Strokes and Muse, quite good.

Here's the in my opinion best song on the album, also the title track. It makes you forget tomorrow is Monday.

I'm rather hung up on what day it is, don't you think? Anyway here it is: If you like it, give the rest of the album a chance. If you do not like it then don't, that's your opinion. :)

By some reason bloggers video linking refuses to accept the video with higher quality. I link it here as well. The one above is with spanish subs. I don't know what you prefer, do as you wish.

Permafrost

Here's a good song to kickstart your weekend.

Quite trippy and with a suggestive chorus. Straight through awesome song, in my opinion. Magazine is a rather unknown post-punkband. I think it's their best song, and it's not even punky. It's just lonely, cold and really psychedelic.

Beware of the solo. It's least to say spectacular...

Wonderful

So tomorrow I have no school and everything seems awesome. In less than two weeks school's out for me. I love Sweden for the long summer breaks.

-

In other news, I have this really annoying computer virus which opens ad instead of the link when I click it on google. There's guides to get it but it takes time. Oh well, I have to do it sometime.

- Alice in Chains are one of those grunge bands which got in the shade of Nirvana, along with bands like Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. All in my opinion better bands than Nirvana, which I doesn't dislike in any way though. It's a fine line between grunge and heavy metal in this case. Their song nutshell is quite soft and you don't have to be a metalhead to like it. Here it is:

DOUBLE UPDATE!!! CHAOS!!!!!

SHITSHITSHITSHIT!!!!

No seriously I have a group statistic assignment about music. Would be worth everything if all you guys voted in this. Just shameless advertising, I would be greatful if you filled it in.

THANKYOU SO MUCH! <3<3<3<3

The movies this summer. :(

So I had a check on the movies coming out this summer. And boy was I disappointed. Have a look:

http://www.imdb.com/features/summermovieguide/2011/

Has Hollywood lost it's creativity? The biggest movies coming out are almost all sequels or prequels. It's almost ridiculous. The only one of them I'm really looking forward to is the (hopefully) last Harry Potter movie. Mostly because of the epic end battle. Then there's Cowboys and Aliens, probably the only cool movie coming up. After those we face two more gritty reboots of superhero movies, Green lantern and Captain America. And then it's just cheesy drama movies.

Sigh.

Here's some surf you might recognize from other media to mood it up a bit, I'll just leave it like that.

99 followers and 1000 views

So a double (almost) milestone. Got 99 followers and 1000 views (at the time I'm writing this.) "Way to go Love!"

Anyway I have two things to share this rainy monday. Firstly there was the Eurovision Song Contest this saturday, and as a European myself I had to watch this. I usually dislike every song in the competition, Swedens was for one dreadful, yet did it almost win but got beat by crap Azerbaijan and the jazzy Italian song. But there was one song that was actually decent. I'm talking about Moldova, the little former soviet republic located here:

See it?
Their competing song was completely awesome. It had everything, funny hats, girls on unicycles and (most importantly) a flipped out trumpet solo. It's not great but by eurovision standard it's a godsend.
That's the music part of the entry. As promised I will put on some pics from the Swedish Royal Institute of Technologies, (KTH, a technical university in stockholm) carnival. In sweden we don't have any carnivals as every other have, we have only student carnivals. Anyway it was 1500 students who had one week in building drinking beer their contributions. Whatever, here's some pics (my sister took 900 of them).
(a swedish bus, driven by bikes and booze)
Some actually built stuff

Actually working, it drove sideways

Hope this post aint to long, that's just some of the stuff on the carnival. have 299/300 more pictures, thought this would be enough.

Johnossi

Today I went and saw the in sweden famous band Johnossi. The thing is that I've never heard them before, if you don't count their stuff played on radio and other I just went there just because it was very cheap (a tivoli) and I knew a lot of people there. I'm not going to share anything today by the way, too tired. Anyway they are pretty cool, mostly because they only are two guys, a guitarist/singer and a drummer. And they don't have any other backup band, it's only those two playing. And it worked. The guitarist/singer had an acoustic guitar with heavy effects. He plays bass att the low strings and guitar at the upper. Well given that I almost hadn't heard them before it was good, but my friends were ecstatic. I wasn't so overwhelmed but it was ok and I understand that you would enjoy it more if you knew the lyrics and everything. Heh. This must be pretty boring. Tomorrow I will go to the huge swedish royal institute of technologies' student carnival, prepare for a report; might even have some pictures. It's going to be really cool, promise.

If you're interested in the band, google them, I don't give a damn. Here's nothing:

Offtopic thursday

I'm introducing a new thing in my blog, the off-topic Thursday. But today I wrote an English text. It was the swedish national test in english which I should have written last week, everyone else in my year from Sweden did it. But I overslept and wrote about another subject now instead. I was told to write about a season of the year and describe a memory from said season. I decided early that I should screw that and my text slowly derailed into space travel.

Long story short: I'm not in the mood to write so much. I'm full of excuses, have some B-52 instead, it's upbeat and fun. Now I have expectations for later though :S

Sun, sun, sun

The weather is perfect, you sense the summer coming. It's in the air. I'm sitting outside in the setting sun listening to music and chilling around. Here's some icelandic music. Some has probably heard of Sigur Rós before. Some might have heard of their singer Jónsi. Either way they are great and their album Agaetis Byrjun is one of my favorites. With tracks like Ny Batterí and Hjartað Hamast and:

Hope you as well have a great day!

You know what time it is?

It's time for swedish music! Well you won't notice that. Band's called The Knife. It's two siblings who made some nice synthpop, or whatever. Kind of hard to explain. I'm not a huge fan of them, but this track is pretty damn chill so put this on and do whatever you do a little bit more relaxed while at it. I know I will.

Hey guys

Remember the Clash? Probably the best punk band in my opinion, though I like their non-punk stuff more. They really did some varied music, with reggae and new wave influences among others. Great music and one of my favorite bands.

I'm not going to share them today. Their singer Joe Strummer went solo after the bands break-up. He's a great musician and he made some good tunes, despite being pretty unknown. I think we should change that.

Here's a track from his second solo album Global a go-go. The album draws heavy influences from world music and is really good. I recommend it. The track's called Global a go-go. You recognize Strummer's style if you've heard the Clash as well, he sings in a very special way. Anyway, here it is: (Track's in spotify and youtube)

Enjoy!

Last day

It's now the last day of the weekend. Time to prepare for a sleepless week and try to get motivation to read some biology.

... But that's for later. :) Now I will share some punk. Since I began listening to the infamous band Misfits I've always liked punk even though I grew tired of said band. But who knows, might pick them up again sometime.

Anyway here's We've got a bigger problem now by Californian surfpunkband Dead Kennedys. It's a remake of one of their most famous songs California Über Alles about the not-so-bright fascist future of Ronald Reagans presidency. If you listen to it and react "Hey, this doesn't sound like punk! ", just wait... :)

Beautiful day

I'm happy, have slept and finally taken ended the two week long tiredness. It's sunny outside and when I logged into facebook this morning I found this video:

It's Santana performing soul sacrifice on woodstock. If you go to 2:09 you get to one of the most awesome drum solos ever. Seriously, listen.

It's Friday

It is friday. If you have 16 minutes free you could put this song on to get you down to the weekend. It's by the swedish progressive rock band Kebnekajse, they make good use of violin. If you don't have spotify there's a cut down version of it on youtube, will link that as well.

First entry

Hello and welcome to my blog. Nevermind the pretentious and arty name, couldn't come up with anything else right now. Either way I will post music and others stuff that I currently feel like posting, either in text form, from a spotify-url or from youtube.

Firstly I will post the great song "Shine on you crazy diamond" I've had it on my brain the whole day and it's just marvelous, a great piece of music.

Hope you will all follow my blog for further updates, it will most of all keep me going :)
